About David H. Szamet

Dave Szamet entered filmmaking for a simple reason.  He is passionate about the process of starting a project from scratch and making things come together. 

He has served as solo producer on Beyond Borders: The Debate Over Human Migration as well as earning credits as producer, creative producer, and line producer on a variety of internet spots and the short film Intensity.

His experience in the many and varied aspects of filmmaking - from contact development, price negotiation, budget oversight, contracts, and pitching, led him to work with Simon W. Burrow on his documentary film, Beyond Borders.  

Dave holds the strong belief that the opportunity to leave one's country for a better life is a fundamental human right.

After working in film development with The Weinstein Company, Camborne Productions and Ambush Entertainment, Dave joined Simon as producer of Beyond Borders.

Dave has coordinated shooting for films in such diverse locations as Haiti, Miami, Boston, Washington DC, San Francisco, and New York.

He is a graduate of Linfield College in McMinnville, OR where he majored in English and Political Science.
